Overview
Our long-standing client Hilton asked us to join them in Singapore for the 2022 F1 GP, and we were more than happy to oblige. John and Donna, two Diamond Hilton Honors club members bid points to win an incredible McLaren Racing F1 Paddock Club experience both at the track and also at the Conrad Hotel, and we were there to follow their exciting journey.
Our process
From the outset we knew that this would be an unmissable adventure, and we wanted to give the film a really connected feel, engaging directly with the audience. Taking cues from the in-the-moment style of travel vloggers, we developed a series of stylistic ‘moments’ that would give the impression of a self-shot film while following a predefined storyboard and shot list. On arriving on location, we worked with the Hilton guests Donna and John to explain the content plan, and make sure they were comfortable with our more intrusive approach. We needn't have worried - both Donna and John were incredible on camera, and a joy to shoot with, regularly suggesting fun new elements to add to the story. However they remained oblivious to the real highlight of the trip - a surprise room visit from F1 legend Daniel Ricardo. Our team set fixed and mobile cameras around the room, and the expression of delight on John and Donna’s faces when they met their hero was beyond priceless. The day culminated in an incredible trackside experience for both guests, where they had the chance to join the McLaren crew in the team garage, rounding off a genuine once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Deliverables
We created a high-energy hero cut, and a series of teasers in multiple formats to run across all Hilton’s social platforms. The most challenging part was cutting down the hours of vibrant footage into a tight 60 second piece, but that’s always a great problem to have!
