Overview
Paul Oz is an ‘Explosive’ British portrait artist and sculptor. Celebrating icons of popular culture and sport with the maximum of 3D impact and energy, in large scale heavily textured oil paintings, and dynamic sculpture. Paul approached us with a request to create a film to help launch his incredible Ayrton Senna statue that he had previously been working on. The vision was to create a monumental moment in time when Senna was sitting on the track during practice in 1985. Paul had created the statue, all that was needed now was to source the JPS Senna car.
Our process
We chose a perfect backdrop for this moving and emotional piece, with the large empty warehouse space of Bicester Heritage. This stunning location looks great from every angle and really fits the mood. In order to create the most efficient way of shooting, we concepted a lot of the shots of how we would use Paul (as a replicate Ayrton Senna) in situ with the car in 3D - this enabled us to have an end to end timeline even before the main shoot.
There is not a lot of archive footage of Senna in his JPS Lotus - so we turned to Cinema 4D once more to help create some shots of the car in motion to help bring the piece to life.
A powerful VO was added alongside an emotional soundtrack to help tie everything together.
Deliverables
A main hero short form content piece was created, along with a series of cut down and resized versions for social media platforms.
In addition we created a Behind the Scenes piece that Paul promoted across social media.
